What Are the Best Vacuum Cleaners for Business?
One of the most often asked questions from someone new to carpet cleaning is What is The Best Vacuum Cleaners to use in carpet cleaning? Many times we focus on the more expensive carpet cleaning and rug shampooer machines and we forget about the basic vacuum and how important it is to the carpet cleaning business.
There are many different thoughts concerning what are the best vacuum cleaners and the answer really depends upon your point of view. Most of my long time associates are actually split on this subject. Since there are two different schools of thought, we'll look at the benefits of both.
The first group feels that the carpet cleaner should have the best possible vacuum cleaners he or she can fit into the budget. They feel that commercial style heavy duty machines not only do a better job in most instances but also impress the customer since these machines are not normally seen in a home and seem to project a professional level of service. Most of the commercial vacuum cleaners will cost anywhere from $400 to $700 and more.
Besides the benefit mentioned of projecting a professional appearance, these machines should last for years of daily service if cared for properly. In most cases the commercial vacuum cleaners will also have more replaceable parts and accessories should always be available from multiple sources. This is always a good point to consider since when your vacuum is earning a living for you, there is no time to waste when something breaks.
The second group reasons that it is better to just buy an inexpensive vacuum once a year or so as the standard models wear out. The regular home models might run anywhere from $75 to $250 but in many cases they simply do not hold up to the regular demands of daily use. Usually you will find they have fewer replaceable parts then commercial vacuums also. Another way of thinking about this is that these machines are disposable.
I've noticed that in most cases the more experienced carpet cleaners usually will pay the extra money to get the better commercial grade machines. You'll find many of the commercial models have been around for several years without any substantial changes. This means parts are readily available and also indicates the machines are built to last longer.
Most small carpet cleaning businesses will start out with a good commercial upright. It is always a good practice to carry a back up machine for emergencies. This second machine might be a typical home model since it isn't going to receive daily use. Some like a floor machine with hose attachments for stairs but others will buy a smaller canister type vacuum for stairs. You'll find many of the better commercial floor machines do not have accessories. The smaller canisters are also handy for upholstery cleaning and mattress cleaning if you provide those services. If the business includes any office cleaning, a good commercial backpack vacuum is an excellent investment.
